The 'School of Excellence' (SOE) is a program designed to bridge the gap between our Recreational teams and our Competitive teams. With our "guide and discovery" approach, we aim to create a positive environment which allows for the player to replace the fear of failure, with freedom of expression.
'SOE' was put in place in the Fall of '07 to create a feeder system into our Competitive program, and to give the players the opportunity to develop their game and push on to a higher level.
The players lucky enough to participate in the 'SOE,' will receive training from qualified coaches, once a week, for a 10 period. The coaches will put the children through sessions and drills which are designed to create responsible, imaginative players. Soccer is a problem-solving game; the player is constantly required to create a better situation than the one in front of them-- they can only do this if they are given the freedom to think, and make decisions for themselves. The 'SOE,' through its "guide and discovery" approach to coaching and teaching, fosters this growth and development.
Last season, 24 children were selected to participate; each child received an 'SOE' t-shirt, which they are required to wear to every session. They were put through their paces by Coach Jose and Coach Dave. It is a testament to the coaches, the children, and the program, that 12 of those children have now progressed onto a competitive team.
